Propane has a narrow range of flammability when compared with other petroleum products. In order to ignite, the propane/air mix must contain from 2.2 to 9.6 percent propane vapor. If the mixture contains less than 2.2 percent gas, it is too lean to burn. If it contains more than 9.6 percent, it is too rich to burn.

Propane-Fueled String Trimmer for Lawns Named One of 10 Most Brilliant Products of 2009
2009-10-16

Popular Mechanics magazine has named the Lehr Eco Trimmer, already a winner of a 2009 clean air technology award from the Environmental Protection Agency, one of the 10 most brilliant products of 2009.

"The four-stroke string trimmer (also sold as the Craftsman Propane Line Trimmer powered by Lehr) produces far less pollution and is more convenient than the two-stroke gas-and-oil machines it can replace," according to a feature in the November issue of the magazine.
